Christmas Comes July 16 to Downtown Glendale, AZ

Christmas Comes July 16 to Downtown Glendale Complete with Holiday Sales and Good Cheer.

Put on the sunscreen, grab the jingle bells and head to Historic Downtown Glendale for a day of sun-drenched holiday shopping. Even Santa is leaving the northern climes to enjoy this annual Christmas in July shopping event on Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

With only 161 days left to get all of your shopping for gifts and decorations complete, start early and avoid the rush! Christmas cheer begins at the Glendale Visitor Center, 5800 W. Glenn Drive, Suite 140, where you’ll pick up your holiday map, coupons and gift bag (for the first 500 visitors) and take a spin on the prize wheel.

Santa himself will take a break from making toys to make a stop in downtown Glendale, between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at A Mad Hatter’s Antiques, Collectibles & Home D├ęcor located at 5734 W. Glendale Avenue. Shoppers are welcome to take their own pictures with Santa.

Christmas music will play throughout the neighborhood as downtown businesses offer fun-filled holiday activities, including decorating a Cerreta’s Chocolate Christmas tree, holiday card-making, and sweet holiday treats at downtown restaurants, all for a nominal fee.

In the spirit of holiday giving, the Glendale Visitor Center will be accepting school supplies for the Annual Back to School Supply Drive, which will benefit local elementary schools. These items include new backpacks, pencils, colored pencils, markers, erasers, paper, folders, binders, crayons and glue.

Christmas in July also kicks off the start of decorating Historic Downtown Glendale where 1.5 million lights will be hung for the annual Glendale Glitters, Azcentral.com’s Critics’ Choice for Best Festival. The installation of the holiday lights takes more than 5,000 labor hours to complete in order to be ready for Glendale Glitters Spectacular in November.

Admission and parking are free.
